About the comic: In a nutshell, Highly Experimental is a romantic/psychological comedy/drama webcomic about a boy in an unusual science school and its staff, students, and entire community of an isolated village that have a significant impact on his life as seen by a new girl that tries to befriend him.
This boy just wants to be a regular young man and accepted in this world... but really, who DOESN'T?
There will be an eventual series of plots to unfold. Keep reading along and if this comic is to your liking, you will see. If not, that's okay. Just head on over to the links page and check out the cooler stuff I recommend.
As far as stuff to keep in mind, this comic contains occasional swearing from some of the characters (some of it being just outright humorous) and will at some point touch on topics such as psychological issues and religeon, homo/heterosexuality, and gender identity. On that note, there won't be any graphic sexual or violent content in this comic.
Why Are you doing this?
I'm juggling currently between this project and an un-released fantasy adventure (the kind of stuff I was better known for in the past ten years), and decided to put this comic forward first because I wanted to work on something more character-oriented. I understand this may come off as odd considering a story taking place in a science school would imply that this comic would be one of those Dexter's Lab/Johnny Test kids stories where gadget-related plots just blow out of proportions every day when it's not so much like that, but this was something I've wanted to... well, experiment with.
You don't have a specific update schedule. :|
At most times, I have no buffer for this comic. It generally takes me two or three nights to complete a page, and depending on how life goes, I spend wednesday/thursday night on one page and Saturday/Sunday/monday night on the other. I at least try to keep a timeframe of the Friday-Tuesday range so that comic updates won't be completely sporadic and then you won't know if it's worth coming back often. The HiEx Tumblr and Facebook pages will keep you guys informed.
Who are you?
I am me. I like to draw things and complain on social networks sometimes, play video games most of the time, and I do graphic designing for a living.
Do you have tables at conventions?
My income is not enough to support such an expense. Maybe one day the donate button will come to my aid and help me fund a table and printing stuff to sell, but I will likely attempt a Kickstarter project when I have enough material for backers. Table or no table, the conventions that I generally attend are Anime Expo, Otakon, and New York Anime Fest/Comic Con. I'm no longer going to San Diego Comic Con after last year's ticket sales thing. If you have a table, I'm likely to swing by for a visit if you ask me to. :)
